Business picks up for Southeast Valley this week.
The seventh-ranked Jaguars (4-0 overall, 1-0 in the district) will now travel to Carroll to face defending state champion and No. 1 (Class 1A) Carroll Kuemper (4-0, 1-0).
The Jaguars have strung together a solid four-week start, outscoring their opponents by a total of 142-19 in staying unbeaten. The defense will be tested now with the Knights.
Last week, Southeast Valley rolled past Estherville-Lincoln Central by a score of 35-7. Casey Hanson had another outstanding game, going 13-for-16 passing with 209 yards and five touchdowns.
He connected with Bryce Harrison for three scores and Logan Jaeschke for two. Jaeschke had 157 yards through the air and Harrison had 64. Hansen also ran for 127 yards.
This season, Hanson has thrown for 525 yards and 11 TDs. He also has 362 yards on the ground and three scores.
Jaeschke has caught 18 balls for 353 yards and seven touchdowns. Harrison has 13 receptions and 223 yards to go along with six TDs.
Kuemper's Taylen Alford has thrown for 608 yards and three scores. Jarin Hoffmann has rushed for 705 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Knights have won the last five minutes in the series, earning a 42-6 victory last season.
No. 8 SOUTH CENTRAL CALHOUN (4-0, 1-0) at EMMETSBURG (2-2, 1-0)
Last week, the Titans earned a 36-15 victory over South Hamilton. They ran for 376 yards in the victory.
Garrett Krause had 84 yards and a score and Avery Patterson had 78 and a TD. John Patterson, Dustin Dean and Brayden Werneburg all hit paydirt as well for South Central Calhoun.
The Titans will now square off with perennial power Emmetsburg. The E-Hawks picked up a 22-14 win over Pocahontas Area last Friday.
Joe Fischer ran for 138 yards and a score versus the Indians. Brennan Hasbrouck and Baeckam Shirk also found the endzone.
Cooper Nattress has rushed for 297 and two scores and Hayden Stickrod has 231 and two TDs for SCC.
Brayden Werneburg has four scores, while Krause has two. John Patterson, Reid Meyer, Avery Patterson and Dean all have touchdowns as well.
For the E'Hawks, Fischer has 429 yards on the ground and three TDs. MJ Bay and Shirk have two touchdowns each, while Hasbrouck and Bric Joynt have each hit paydirt once.
POCAHONTAS AREA (2-2, 0-1) at MANSON NW WEBSTER (1-3, 0-1)
Last week, the Indians and Cougars opened district action with setbacks. PAC fell to Emmetsburg (22-14), while MNW was edged by East Sac County, 14-6.
Coen Hammen threw for 217 and two touchdowns against Emmetsburg. He connected with Gabe Halligan for 70 yards and a score and Xander Small (80 yards) for a touchdown.
PAC’s Karson Welander had 98 receiving yards.
In the first four games of the season, Hammen has thrown for 633 yards and six scores for the Indians. On the ground, Welander has 349 yards and three scores, while Hammen has rushed for two touchdowns. Welander has 225 receiving yards and a score.
Also catching touchdown passes for PAC to date have been Xander Small (three), Brayden Hudson and Andrew Greenfield.
In the loss to the Raiders, MNW’s Isaiah Daggett threw for 106 yards and a TD to Charlie Sturgis, who accumulated 115 yards.
Coy Moline has run for 542 yards and two touchdowns, while Sturgis has two scoring catches for the Cougars.
Daggett has thrown two TDs and Moline one. Eli Schoon, Tegan Thoma and Sturgis each have touchdown catches.
CLARION-GOLDFIELD/DOWS (3-1, 1-0) at GRUNDY CENTER (3-1, 1-0)
The Cowboys have a stern test ahead in Week 5 as they face Grundy Center, which has not lost a district game in 38 straight contests dating back to 2019.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is coming off a 48-25 win over Central Springs, where the Cowboys ran for 289 yards. Reed Campbell and Charlie Campbell had two touchdowns each, while Easton Beyer added one.
JD Morrical threw for 70 yards and TDs passes to Paxton Lingenfelter and Huxley Ligenfelter. Morrical has 268 passing yards and five scores this year, connecting with Paxton twice and Huxley twice. Campbell has one scoring catch.
The Cowboys are led on the ground by Campbell (274 yards), Morrical (274), Colin Sesker (247) and Reed Campbell (246). Charlie has five scores, while Sesker has four and Reed, three.
For the Spartans, Ethan Meester has thrown for five touchdowns and 589 yards. Ross Lynch has two TD catches, while Jayce Fryslie, Cash Combs, Lake Scrage, Carson Laube and Hayden Geerdes have one each.
Cooper Keller has rushed for 380 yards and two scores.
HUMBOLDT (0-4) at WEBSTER CITY (0-4)
This is an unfamiliar feeling in the series, as the long-time rivals are both desperate for their first victory of 2026.
Last week, the Wildcats lost to Ballard (14-7) and the Lynx fell to Gilbert (27-13).
Cash McIntire had the lone score for the Wildcats versus the Bombers, running for a five-yard touchdown. McIntire had 130 yards on the night.
For the Lynx against the Tigers, Kaleb Hansen ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
McIntire had 275 yards and Caden Fredin has 145 on the ground so far this season for Humboldt. They both have scored twice each.
The Lynx have rushed for 693 yards and three scores as a squad. Hansen has all three TDs and 332 yards on the ground.
Alex Staley has thrown a touchdown pass to Grant Arends.
