Light rain did not keep action from wrapping up at Sports Park Raceway on Sunday for the season-ending championship races.
Following nine weeks of intense racing, titles were handed out to nine drivers.
Feature winners from the last evening on the track included Correctionville’s Levi Volkert in IMCA Sport Compacts, Nate Hogan of Fort Dodge in 4.6 Crown Vics, Dino Rodish of West Des Moines in vintage cars, Josh May of Des Moines in IMCA Mod Lite, Lake City’s Will Smith in IMCA Hobby Stocks, Kamdyn Haggard of Humboldt in IMCA Sport Mods, Ventura’s Joe Schmit in IMCA Stock Cars and Jewell’s Chaz Baca in IMCA Modifieds.
Volkert came up from fourth in the first heat to capture the checkered flag. Hogan and Nick Sawdy flipped positions from their heat race in the finals.
Rodish, May and Baca were all heat winners on the night.
A runner-up finish from Sawdy allowed the Fort Dodge driver to hold off Hogan for the season title. Sawdy had four wins, seven Top-5s and finished in the Top-10 in all nine races.
Smith captured a season crown as well, recording four wins and Top-10s in all nine features. May was also a champ, as was Baca.
Haggard earned six race golds to secure the overall IMCA Sport Mods points crown. Boone’s Tyler Pickett was the IMCA Stock Car champion by four points over Ryan Roath.
Brent McClendon of Ames won vintage cars by a single point over Rex Jansonius, while Rodish was also a winner.
Brooke Osler of Milford took the IMCA Sport Compacts title.
