GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The fourth-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team won their ninth three-set match of the season here on Wednesday night.
The Tritons (18-2 overall) swept Central, 25-22, 25-13 and 25-23.
"Central is a solid team who was receiving votes for the Top-25 just a couple of weeks ago," said ICCC head coach Sara Horn. "They're a very disciplined, high-level ball-handling team that makes you work hard for your points.
"It's also one of our longer drives, so you never know how each player is going to handle hopping off the bus from a four-hour drive and then jumping right into a match."
Cooper Griffin had a strong effort for the Tritons with 21 kills. Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Meah McCaleb was the digs leader with 14.
Iowa Central’s Abby Jensen added 12 digs and Annie Elbert contributed 11. Elbert had 35 assists.
"Cooper had a big match for us and got us out of a lot of long rallies," Horn said. "Our defense once again made it hard for them to score which allowed us to come back from deficits in the first two sets."
Iowa Central is back in action on Friday at DMACC. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
