MASON CITY – There was a common theme at the top of the Riverhawk Cross Country Invitational here Tuesday.
Cael Hansen of Fort Dodge raced to a third place finish overall, as Henry and Miles Hansen from Mason City were first and second.
Behind Hansen's bronze, the Dodgers finished third in the team standings. The host Riverhawks were first, with Ames taking second. Algona placed seventh, Webster City was eighth, St. Edmond 10th and Emmetsburg 12th.
"It was definitely nice to see Mason City and to know what it's going to take to win at the conference meet," said Fort Dodge head coach Austin Read. "Their top-two are really good. It was great to be competitive at the top for Cael.
"Overall it was positive because this was our best result of the season. We beat Waverly-Shell Rock after they had beaten us earlier this year."
Henry Hansen won the race in 16:32, with Miles Hansen crossing seven seconds later. Cael Hansen, a senior, posted a time of 17:04.
Jayce Point was 11th overall in 17:47, as Jones Hensley placed 27th in 18:32. Corban McHone was 34th, Grant Maxson 38th, Landon Waynar 69th and Wesley Anderson 70th.
