MARSHALLTOWN -- The Fort Dodge golf squad competed against Marshalltown on Tuesday.

The Dodgers lost by nine strokes to the Bobcats, 156-165, on the American Legion Post No. 46 Golf Course.

"I felt like we did a good job of adjusting to both (the course and conditions)," said FDSH head coach Nick Vinson. "We were grinding out rounds that weren't going our way."

Senior Mason Frevert (37) was the meet runner-up for the Dodgers. Both Trace Rial and Camden Sassman added 42s, and Davis Underberg carded a 44.

Holden Doster and Cameron Beck shot 47s.

The Fort Dodge junior varsity had a 187. Kinnick Hemrick turned in a 45, while Ace Grell and Lane Hansen had 47s and Caleb Huse contributed a 48.

The Dodgers are back in action on Monday when they head to Ames to play at Veenker.

"Our short game has to (collectively) get better," Vinson said. "We could have saved a lot of strokes with simple putts that we missed.

"We need to clean some things up, because we will start getting back on more difficult courses (moving forward)."
