MARSHALLTOWN – The Fort Dodge volleyball team showed the kind of heart and passion head coach Beth Wilder wanted here Thursday night.
After trading sets with Marshalltown through four, the Dodgers stormed past the Bobcats to secure the Iowa Alliance Conference North match in five.
Scores were 25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 18-25 and 15-10.
"It was an all-around team win from the bench to the starters," Wilder said. "Everyone contributed, and we looked like a team out there.
"I am so proud of the way they bounced back after a loss Tuesday to Mason City. This team has so much potential and we saw that on Thursday."
Adyson Friesth led the way for Fort Dodge with 16 kills, 13 digs, 10 assists and seven aces, as Holly Schaffer added nine kills, nine digs and three aces.
Senior Hope Alstott had 15 digs, with classmate Ellie Doster adding 10 and four aces. Grace Nichols chipped in six kills and two blocks, Rylee O'Brion had 11 digs and Charlotte DeJong three blocks.
The Dodgers are in action on Saturday at the Boone Invitational. The field consists of the host Toreadors, Forest City and Grinnell.
