District play begins for some
2A, 1A, A start title chase

After two straight losses to start the season Manson Northwest Webster broke through last Friday.
The two-time defending district champions will open league play as the Cougars (1-2 overall, 0-0) travel to upstart East Sac County (3-0, 0-0).
Manson Northwest Webster lost their opener to Class 2A Southeast Valley and then MVAOCOU.
Now the Cougars, who have won 10 straight games in league play will look to keep the momentum rolling.
Last week the Cougars beat Ogden 24-13 behind a strong ground attack of 288 yards. Second team All-Stater Coy Moline ran for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Moline also threw a 25-yard touchdown to Tegan Thoma.
Moline has 433 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Charlie Sturgis has reached the end zone twice.
This year both Moline and Isaiah Daggett have each thrown touchdowns.
East Sac County picked up their third victory with a 29-14 victory over MVAOCOU.
Carson Schmitt ran for 172 yards and three scores. Weston Julin threw a 10-yard touchdown strike to Carter Popp.
For the Raiders Schmitt has run for 344 yards and five scores, while Julin has 265 on the ground and four scores. Julin has also thrown for 235 and four scores.
Estherville-Lincoln Central (0-3, 0-0) at Southeast Valley (3-0, 0-0)
Play ramps up this week as Class 2A, 1A and A open district play. This may be the last reprieve in the schedule as the Jaguars play the winless Midgets.
There are four unbeatens in District 1 with the Jaguars, Carroll Kuemper, OABCIG and Okoboji. Spirit Lake is 2-1.
The Jaguars improved to 3-0 with a 54-0 victory over South Hamilton.
Now Southeast Valley will look to keep their streak alive as they host the Midgets for Homecoming.
Last week the Jaguars threw for 231 yards and 129 on the ground.
Casey Hanson was 7-for-8 for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Mason Bahr was 3-for-4 with one touchdown.
Logan Jaeschke had three catches for 77 yards and two scores. Bryce Harrison had 57 yards and two scores. Josiah Hefley had 68 yards.
On the ground Casey Hanson and Tristan Hanson both had rushing touchdowns.
This year Hanson has thrown for 316 yards and six scores and Bahr has two throwing scores.

Hanson has three rushing scores, as Bahr, Wyatt Muench and Hanson each have one.
For the Midgets, William Rostfjord has thrown for 651 yards and six touchdowns.
Amari Armstrong has 274 yards receiving and two scores. Garrett Smith has seven grabs for three scores.
E-LC has only rushed for 297 yards on the ground and one score.
South Hardin (3-0) at Eagle Grove (2-1)
After two straight victories the Eagles suffered their first loss last week, dropping a 53-30 contest to West Fork.
The Eagles rushed for 324 yards and none through the air.
Kylar Sisson had 159 yards on eight carries. Chase Bedford, Trenton Robinson and Adrian Whipple also scored.
The Tigers have knocked off West Marshall (34-0), Iowa Falls-Alden (33-22) and Hudson (33-14).
Braden Weig has been a one man wrecking crew threw the air, throwing for 1,016 yards in three games. Weigh has 12 touchdown passes.
The Tigers have five receivers that have more than 100 yards receiving. Joshua Spindler has 10 grabs for 247 yards. Colby Zollar has three scores and Casey Williamson has two. Grant Meister, Aspen Briggs and Regan Eide have one score each.
Kameron Adams has 301 yards and two scores on the ground.
On the ground the Eagles have 1,001 yards. Whipple has 295 yards and five scores. Trenton Robinson (235 yards) also has five scores. Sisson has reached paydirt twice.
Aaron Alaniz, Keegan Eisentrager, Bedford, and Colson Schafer each have one score.
South Hamilton (1-2) at South Central Calhoun (3-0)
If South Central Calhoun scores 27 points on Friday night, they will win the contest.
The Titans have won all three of their games by scoring 27 points. They topped Earlham (27-6), Ridge View (27-15) and IKM-Manning (27-0).
Last week for the Titans, they ran for 336 yards. Hayden Stickrod had 116 yards and two scores. Reid Meyer and Brayden Werneburg each scored. Cooper Nattress ran for 101 yards.
This season the Titans have ran for 773 yards. Stickrod has ran for 231 yards and two scores. Werneburg has three scores, while Nattress has two, Krause and Meyer have one each.
For the Hawks, Wyatt Gelder has 394 yards and five scores. Kash Northrop and Maddux Becker have one touchdown each.
