Manson NW earns district win

MANSON – Coy Moline supplied the offense, and the Manson Northwest Webster defense took care of the rest.
Moline accounted for all 28 points scored by the Cougars in a dominating 28-0 victory over Pocahontas Area here Friday night on Homecoming.
The senior rushed 25 times for 164 yards, scoring four touchdowns. He also converted a pair of two-point runs, helping MNW out to a 22-0 lead at the half.
"We really played well on both sides of the ball," MNW head coach Zach Noffsinger said. "It was great to big up a district win."
Manson Northwest Webster (2-3 overall, 1-1 in Class 1A, District 2) has captured two straight district titles. The Cougars dropped their opener in league play to East Sac County.
As a team, Manson Northwest Webster rushed for 300 yards, averaging almost six yards per carry. Tegan Thoma, a senior, added 80 yards rushing on seven totes.
On defense, Thoma had seven tackles and classmate Aiden Nelson registered six.
The Cougars are back here next Friday to host Emmetsburg, who earned a 7-6 victory over South Central Calhoun last night. Pocahontas Area heads to Jewell to take on South Hamilton.
