Another sweep for Iowa Central

The fourth-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team picked up its sixth ICCAC sweep of the year here Tuesday over Iowa Lakes.
Scores were 25-17, 25-23 and 25-19.
Only NIACC has been able to take a set off the Tritons (22-2 overall, 7-0 in the conference) in league matches so far this season.
Clara Newton led a balanced attack with 10 kills, and Cooper Griffin added nine for Iowa Central. Kampbell Bryte had eight kills, as Madison Rogers and Rylyn McCarty each tallied six.
"We were able to really play a lot of girls," ICCC head coach Sara Horn said. "It had us a little more inconsistent than we would like, but that happens when you are subbing in as much as we did.
"Still, it was great to get another conference sweep and move to 22-2."
Annie Elbert had 25 assists and Meya Wingert nine, with Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Meah McCaleb, Abby Jensen and Elbert each recording nine digs. Devon Rodewald and Mykala Luzum both had three aces, as Luzum added eight digs.
The Tritons are now 7-1 inside Hodges Fieldhouse on the year and have won five in a row. They return to action Thursday at Marshalltown.
"September is always a bear of a schedule for us," Horn said. "We played three of our four tournaments and went up against a lot of ranked teams. To be 22-2 at this point really says a lot about the girls and how much they have worked.
"We have really great leadership and a lot of talented kids who want to succeed."
