Tritons stay unbeaten

MASON CITY – The No. 10 Iowa Central volleyball team remained unbeaten, sweeping two matches here Friday at the NIACC Invitational.

After besting North Dakota State College of Science in five, the Tritons (7-0 overall) downed Lake Region State in four.

Cooper Griffin had 16 kills and Addie Law 11 vs. North Dakota State College of Science, as Iowa Central responded after dropping sets three and four. They won the fifth, 15-10, as Meah McCaleb recorded 21 digs and Devon Rodewald had 12.

Meya Wingert picked up 45 assists and Rylyn McCarty had five block assists.

McCarty had a match-high 15 kills vs. Lake Region State, with Kampbell Bryte recording 10. McCaleb and Abby Jensen each had 14 digs, and Annie Elbert tallied 32 assists.

Up next for the Tritons will be their home opener with ICCAC play vs. Northwest Iowa on Wednesday. Match time is set for 6 p.m. inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

Last Wednesday, Iowa Central swept Ellsworth in its conference opener. Griffin had 13 kills, Bryte added 10 and McCaleb finished with 14 digs. Wingert dished out 36 assists.
