CLEAR LAKE – The St. Edmond girls tennis team took care of business here Tuesday on the road, besting Clear Lake in North Central Conference action, 6-3.
Chloe Palmer, Abby Huss, Sophia Schlienz and Olivia Andrew accounted for all six points, earning four singles victories and a pair of victories in doubles, as the Gaels (3-0 overall, 3-0 in the league) have now won 24 straight NCC duals.
Huss and Schlienz earned matching 8-0 victories in singles, while Palmer and Andrew won by identical scores of 8-3. Palmer and Huss scored an 8-1 triumph in doubles, with Schlienz and Andrew pulling out an 8-5 decision.
"The top of our lineup took care of business," SEHS head coach Shawn Neverman said. "The returning girls know what it takes and have done well with the competition.
"We definitely still have some things to clean up and work on, but the new girls to the lineup are working hard and getting better every day."
St. Edmond heads to Pella for a tournament this Saturday. The Gaels will compete alongside Aplington-Parkersburg, Boone, Clarinda, Clear Lake, Decorah, Fairfield, Mount Vernon, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Pella Christian, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Shenandoah, Spencer and the host Dutch.
