Thomas Ehn and Matthew Crimmins each had career games, leading the St. Edmond football team past Glidden-Ralston here Friday night at Dodger Stadium, 50-32.
Ehn, a junior, threw seven touchdowns and Crimmins, also a junior, ran for 196 yards, as the Gaels (1-1 overall) avenged a heartbreaking loss to the Wildcats last year.
Senior Ty Mericle caught three TDs and classmate Griffin Laufersweiler had his first two receiving touchdowns.
Ehn had a monster first half, completing half of his passes for touchdowns. He was 8-for-14 for 108 yards, hitting four different teammates for scores before the break while finishing the game with 187 yards passing.
Mericle hauled in the first touchdown by Ehn from 20 yards out after the quarterback forced a fumble on defense that Crimmins recovered. Gladbrook-Reinbeck answered, but St. Edmond came right back with TD passes from Ehn to Blake Bartlett and Laufersweiler.
For Laufersweiler, a senior, the seven-yard score marked his first career touchdown.
Jack Stucky, a freshman, hauled in a 32-yard pass from Ehn to make it 28-12 just before the half for his first career score. Laufersweiler and Mericle each had their second receiving touchdown in the third quarter to extend the Gael lead.
Mericle caught five passes for 113 yards with the three scores.
For Glidden-Ralston, Brody Hunt had 180 yards passing and four touchdown passes, as Colton Rohrbeck had 119 yards receiving, 78 yards rushing and four total TDs.
St. Edmond will hit the road for the first time next week, taking on Newell-Fonda in a district contest.
