The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a 7-4 decision to Marshalltown here on Tuesday.

Leah Myer scored a singles victory for the Dodgers, as she bested Sophie Boone in a meeting of sophomores at the No. 5 position, 6-4, 6-3.

The doubles pairings of Brooklyn Kaloupek and Grace Rivera, Myer and Charlotte Breeser, and Paisley Smith and Evie Piton were all winners.

"We played pretty well," FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. "We had some close games that could have gone either way. In the end, I thought Marshalltown's experience pulled them through in the close ones.

"Leah was locked in and ready to go, which is something we need to see from everyone. Paisley and Evie had a big comeback victory, as well."

Kaloupek and Rivera, seniors for Fort Dodge, scored a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot in doubles. Myer and junior Breeser won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-3, while the freshmen duo of Smith and Piton scored a 4-6, 6-4 (11-9) triumph at No. 5.

The Dodgers are at Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday.
