HUMBOLDT --The second-ranked Humboldt volleyball team cruised to their home invitational championship on Saturday.
The Wildcats went 5-0. Hudson (4-1) was the runner up), while Carroll Kuemper (3-2) placed third. Emmetsburg had two wins, while South Hamilton had one and Fort Dodge didn't win a match.
The Wildcats beat South Hamilton (21-11, 21-8). They knocked off Hudson (21-14, 21-13) and Kuemper (21-15, losing the second game 21-14 and closing out 15-8).
Humboldt also beat Fort Dodge (21-15 and 21-7). They closed out with a 21-10 and 21-7 match victory over Emmetsburg.
Fort Dodge lost to Hudson (21-13, 21-14), Kuemper (21-7, 21-10).
They beat South Hamilton 21-19 in the first game, dropping the final two 21-13 and 15-7.
They also played three games with Emmetsburg. They won the first game 21-16, dropping the final two 21-19 and 15-11.
The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday at home against Ottumwa.
