McBride, Marsh, Shiltz on All-State squads

Tru McBride, Bo Marsh and Kolton Schiltz led the Fort Dodge baseball team to a 32-win season this summer.
For their efforts, all three were named to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A all-state teams.
McBride was placed on the first team, Marsh on the second and Schiltz landed on the third.
"Tru, Bo and Kolton were all very deserving of being named all-state," FDSH head coach Blake Utley said. "When it comes down to the all-state teams, two coaches from each district attend. I did not attend this year, so to get three on without me there really says a lot about the types of seasons they each had and we had as a team.
"It really sets us up nicely for a favorable 2027 with three all-state players returning and more all-district players back, as well. We have a few guys playing fall baseball, too. Our job as coaches is to keep them hungry going into next season."
Algona's Tate Garman made the 3A second team, Humboldt's Valley Davis was selected to the 3A third and Brad Meister of Bishop Garrigan made the 1A third.
McBride hit .412 with 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 47 runs scored 10 doubles and four triples. He ranked first in the state in RBI and second in home runs, recording a .514 on-base percentage and a .886 slugging percentage.
"Tru was well deserving of making the first team for all-state," Utley said. "His numbers speak for themselves. He made an incredible jump from his sophomore season and was just really solid throughout the year."
Marsh had a .422 batting average, scoring 32 runs with 31 RBI and 10 doubles. He threw out seven runners on the bases.
"Bo not only had strong numbers, but he was incredible behind the plate," Utley said. "Coaches definitely took notice of his defense and ability to lead our pitching staff. I am super proud of Bo and know he has his sights set even higher."
Schiltz hit .400 with seven homers, 43 RBI, 58 runs scored and 10 doubles. He stole 15 bases, drew 32 walks and was hit 16 more times, giving him a .583 on-base and a .710 slugging.
"Kolton could have easily made the first or second team," Utley said. "He had a great season, and just like Tru and Bo, I'm excited to see what he does next year."
Garman, a senior, hit .461 with three homers, 12 doubles, 34 RBI, 47 runs and 50 steals. He was also 2-1 with two saves and 33 strikeouts on the mound.
Davis, also a senior, batted .391 with seven homers, seven triples, five doubles, 38 runs, 25 RBI and 13 steals. He went 5-0 with 28 strikeouts over nine starts.
Meister, a sophomore, hit .405, scoring 26 runs and driving in 11 with four doubles and nine steals. In the field, he had just one error in 27 games with a .971 fielding percentage.
