The Fort Dodge softball team had a season for the record books this summer on the diamond.
The Dodgers, who were within a game of reaching the Class 4A state championship, were honored with four all-state selections from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Hope Alstott and Ellie Doster both returned to the first team for a third consecutive season, with Teryn Rippentrop making the second and Aubrey Alstott the third.
For Hope Alstott, she hit .452 with 17 doubles, 10 triples and three home runs, scoring 69 runs with 46 RBI, 27 steals and a .935 fielding percentage. Doster batted .590, hit 13 home runs with 21 doubles, two triples and 76 RBI, which tied for the state lead.
This marked the fourth time in four seasons that Alstott, a junior, was named first-team all-state.
"It is pretty incredible to have the same two players make the all-state first team for three consecutive seasons," FDSH head coach Andi Adams said. "But Hope and Ellie are just that – incredible players. They both give everything they have to the team and the program."
Rippentrop, one of two seniors on the team alongside Maeleena Meyer, batted .473, scoring 59 runs with 38 RBI and 25 steals. She will continue her softball career at Indian Hills in the fall.
"I have said it before, but the season Teryn had will be talked about for years to come," Adams said. "She is the poster child for what hard work, determination and dedication can do for you as not only a softball player, but an athlete."
Aubrey Alstott moved into the role of ace on the Fort Dodge pitching staff, putting together a 24-2 record with 102 strikeouts and a 2.07 earned run average in 149 innings pitched.
"We asked Aubrey to step into that position of facing off against the opponent’s top pitcher night in and night out, and she stepped up and delivered," Adams said. "Her growth from the first start of the season to the last was incredible."
Hope Alstott, Aubrey Alstott, Rippentrop, Doster and Macy Willis all made the IGCA 4A all-district team, with Adams being named district coach of the year.
