Another busy week of action on the Sports Park track

Racing action heated up right alongside the temperatures at Sports Park Raceway this past Sunday night.

Dry conditions after several days of rain allowed for racing in eight classifications.

In the special 4.6 Crown Vics class, Fort Dodge’s Nick Sawdy and Nate Hogan finished first and second in the A feature. Jake Waters, Jacob Everts and Jayme Anderson rounded out the Top-5.

John Berg, Everts and Greg Dollens were heat winners.

IMCA Sport Compacts went to Rece Hayes, as the Guthrie Center driver held off Michael Gardner from Des Moines and Chase Roath of New River, Arizona. Kaytee DeVries and Hayes were heat winners.

Rex Jansonius of Geneva picked up the checkered flag in the Vintage Cars division after Josh McClendon from Ames won the heat race.

Altoona’s Ben George scored a heat victory and followed that up by winning IMCA Mod Lite over Josh May of Des Moines and Bakersfield, California’s Riley Clem. Brandon Cox was fourth and Greg Elliott finished fifth.

Austin Gray also won a heat in the IMCA Mod Lite division.

Will Smith out of Lake City bested Fort Dodge’s Lincoln Miller for first in IMCA Hobby Stocks, with Nathan DeRagon, Brayson Siegle and Brayden Hurley completing the Top-5. Hurley, Seth Butler and Bryce Sommerfeld won heats.

Rocky Caudle from Ellsworth won the feature in IMCA Sport Mods with Dustin West taking second after winning the heat race.

Cambridge’s Kyle Rose was the IMCA Stock Cars feature winner followed by Karter Evans, Tyler Pickett, Scott Olson and Humboldt’s Calvin Lange. Rose and Olson each won heats.

IMCA Modifieds went to Chaz Baca, with Andy Tiernan finishing second. Tiernan also won the heat race.

The next Sports Park Raceway competition takes place Sunday with a Sport Mod special and racing in all the other divisions.
