The Fort Dodge and St. Edmond softball teams can qualify for state without leaving the comforts of home once again this summer.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released regional pairings for all teams on Thursday.

Currently ranked third in Class 4A, the Dodgers are the No. 1 seed in Region 3 and will face either MOC-Floyd Valley or Sioux Center at Rogers Park on Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m.

MOC-Floyd Valley and Sioux Center square off two nights prior to that.

The bottom half of the bracket features Bishop Heelan, currently ranked 13th. The Crusaders will play either Spencer or Le Mars, as Spencer just dropped out of the latest Top-15.

The regional final is set for Tuesday, July 14, with the highest remaining team hosting.

For the No. 3 (1A) Gaels, they get the winner between GMG and AGWSR on Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. in the Region 3 quarterfinal at Rogers Park. St. Edmond is also the top-seed for the regional.

Collins-Maxwell, North Mahaska or Colo-Nesco awaits in the semifinals with a win, as the bottom of the bracket includes No. 15 Martensdale-St. Marys and Ankeny Christian.

The regional semifinals are set for Friday, July 10 with the final on Monday, July 13.

Also in 4A, Webster City faces Ballard in a Region 2 opener on Thursday, July 9. In 3A, Southeast Valley is at sixth-ranked PCM, Humboldt hosts Estherville-LC and No. 11 Algona takes on Okoboji in Region 6, with Eagle Grove at Benton in Region 1 that same night.

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows is at Belmond-Klemme in 2A, Region 1 on Monday, July 6, with Manson Northwest Webster playing at MVAOCOU and South Central Calhoun at Westwood in 2A, Region 5. Pocahontas Area received a bye and will host either South Central Calhoun or Westwood on Wednesday, July 8, the same night East Sac County is at Ridge View.

In 1A, Bishop Garrigan and West Bend-Mallard meet in a Region 6 opener on Monday, July 6, as both sixth-ranked Newell-Fonda and North Union received byes to the quarterfinals.

The state softball tournament will begin Monday, July 20 from Rogers Park and feature a double-elimination format in all five classes this year.
