MARSHALLTOWN — On the day they were given their postseason assignment, the third-ranked (Class 4A) Fort Dodge softball team took care of business here Thursday night vs. Marshalltown.

Scores were 15-0 in four innings and 10-0 in four.

The Dodgers (26-3 overall, 12-0 in the Iowa Alliance North) would play nothing but home games at Rogers Park in their quest for a return to the state tournament. Fort Dodge gets the winner of MOC-Floyd Valley and Sioux Center on Saturday, July 11, in a regional semifinal.

Aubrey Alstott continued her strong run inside the circle, allowing just a single hit while striking out five with no walks. She also drove in a pair of runs.

Ellie Doster, Hope Alstott, Calliegh Zimmermann, Macy Wills and Emersyn Lara each had two hits, as Alstott scored twice and drove in two. Zimmermann and Doster each had two RBI, with both Wills and Lara each scoring twice.

“I know I’ve said it before, but these girls are just locked in and hitting the ball all over the field,” said FDSH head coach Andi Adams, who is now 80-12 in her career against the Bocats. “We got great pitching once more and gave them plenty of support at the plate.”

Teryn Rippentrop crossed home three times and drove in another run, as the Dodgers plated 13 in the second. Doster had a triple and a double in her two at-bats.

In the nightcap, Fort Dodge ended it with six in the fourth, as Sydney Carver spun a two-hitter with five strikeouts. Hope Alstott had a triple, with Doster and Meg Marsh each recording a double.

The Dodgers have now won 47 consecutive games against Marshalltown since 2013.

“It was great to see the girls continue to play hard in the second game,” Adams said. “We’ve done a pretty good job of not stepping off the gas in doubleheaders where we post a big number on the scoreboard in the opener.

Alstott finished 1-for-1 with two RBI, two hits, two steals and a walk, Rippentrop drove in two, Wills was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Lara finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Marsh and Maeleena Meyer each drove in a run, with Meyer scoring twice.

Up next for the Dodgers will be action at the Linn-Mar and Alburnett Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Fort Dodge plays Alburnett at 11:45 a.m. and fourth-ranked (3A) Mount Vernon at 1:30 p.m.

Starting at $4.62/week.
