Southeast Valley boys do it again at TLC meet

POCAHONTAS — Just like they have done all season, the Southeast Valley boys track and field team struck gold at a meet on Tuesday.

This time, it resulted in the Jaguars claiming the Twin Lakes Conference championship.

Southeast Valley scored 170 points, using a strong late finish to the meet to hold off Sioux Central. Manson Northwest Webster was third followed by GTRA, East Sac County, Alta-Aurelia, South Central Calhoun, Pocahontas Area and Emmetsburg.

The Jaguars won six events, including individual first-place finishes by Colin Johnson in the 100 hurdles and the 400 hurdles. Teammate Kayden Showers was first in the 100, and Southeast Valley claimed the shuttle hurdle, sprint medley and 4×100 relays.

Alex Burger — who was second to Johnson in both hurdle events — Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Johnson ran the shuttle hurdle. Bryce Harrison, Logan Jaeschke, Showers and Burger comprised the sprint medley.

Hanson, Jaeschke, Johnson and Showers teammed up to claim the 4×100.

Jaeschke was second in the 200, Lincoln Akins second in the 1600, and both the 4×800 and distance medley relays were runner-ups as well for SV.

Cole Judisch led the Manson Northwest Webster, winning gold in both the 200 and 400 events. The Cougar 4×400 then capped off the meet with a first-place performance behind Jack Hoeppner, Thatcher Oswald, David Nelson and Judisch.

South Central Calhoun received a gold and a silver from Jace Pedersen in the shot put and discus, respectively.

For Pocahontas Area, Karson Welander captured the long jump title and Adam Marsh was second in the shot put. East Sac County received a pair of firsts from Riley Aragon in the 1,600 and 3,200.

Emmetsburg’s Wyatt Armstrong-Ricke was second in the high jump. The E-Hawks also placed second in the 4×200.
