Gaels play in NCC boys golf triangular

CLEAR LAKE — The St. Edmond boys golf team finished second on Tuesday in North Central Conference action.

Clear Lake carded a round of 153 to take home top honors. The Gaels shot a 171. Clarion-Goldfield/Dows was third at 183.

Kenny Fisher from Clear Lake led a wave of Lions atop the leaderboard with a round of 37, as teammate Kysen Lamb was second with a 38.

For St. Edmond, Ty Mericle shot a 41 with Hunter Horn carding a 42. Jack McElroy added a 43, Maxxus Laufersweiler had a 45, Griffin Laufersweiler 47 and Kinnick Henning 49.

“It was great to see Hunter come in with a 42,” SEHS head coach Matt Dillon said. “Ty has been consistent for us all year, so if we can add Hunter to the mix with a number like that, we have a great shot at moving on in the postseason.”

For the Cowboys, Teddy Yackle had a 44, Tristan Kakacek a 45 and Adam Hodson a 46.

Owen Rutherford led the St. Edmond junior varsity with a 52. Jackson Calvert shot a 54.

The Gaels head to Mason City on Thursday for the NCC tournament from Legacy Golf Course at 10 a.m.
