Gael girls host triangular
The St. Edmond girls golf team competed against Clear Lake and Clarion-Goldfield/Dows here Thursday from Lakeside Golf Course in North Central Conference action.
Led by medalist Elle Ebeling, the Lions finished first with a 176. The Cowgirls were second followed by the Gaels.
Ashlyn Swisher led St. Edmond, placing 10th overall with a 63. Kaci McGonegle fired a 66, Irelyn Derrig had a 67 and both Ann Veneziano and Grace Fuller carded rounds of 70. Jillian Wildt finished off the lineup card for the Gaels with a 78.
“It was a beautiful night for golf,” SEHS head coach Maury Ruble said. “Our scores stayed pretty consistent.”
St. Edmond honored seniors Fuller and Wildt, as both fired nine-hole season-best scores.
For Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Blaire Askelsen and Claire Kirstein each had 56s, as Tess Wibholm added a 61 and Quinn Brooks a 63.
Up next will be the NCC meet in Mason City from Legacy Golf Course on Monday.
