Cloud nine for Southeast Valley boys track
SAC CITY — The Southeast Valley boys track and field team scored a ninth meet title in 10 appearances here on Monday night at the East Sac County Coed Relays.
The Jaguars finished with 149 points, 39 ahead of runner-up Ridge View. The host Raiders were third followed by South Central Calhoun, Manson Northwest Webster, Glidden-Ralston and Ar-We-Va.
In the girls team race, the Cougars prevailed by three points over Southeast Valley, followed by Ridge View, East Sac County, the Titans, Glidden-Ralston and Ar-We-Va.
Kayden Showers won the 100, Colden Mapel the 110 hurdles, Colin Johnson the 200 and Owen Nuss the 800 for Southeast Valley, which was also first in the 4×100, shuttle hurdle and 4×400 relays.
Leo Ramirez (110 hurdles), Deegan Brandel (discus), Ethan Martin (long jump) and Ian Brunner (shot put) all placed second. Avrie Hanson was a runner-up in the 100 and 200 for the SEV girls. Emily Wilson (800) and Goldie Davis (1,500) also placed second.
The Jaguar girls won the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×800 relays.
Maddie Wittrock (1,500), Kathleen Hildreth (3,000), Ava Moline (shot put) and the 4×400 relay were all first for the Manson Northwest Webster girls, as Moline (discus), Ava Messerly (400), Raygin Anderson (800) and Gertrude Kohnen (high jump) added silvers.
For the Cougar boys, Mason Anderson won the high jump, Thomas Lundberg was second in the 400 and the 4×800 relay earned a runner-up finish.
South Central Calhoun had a big day in the field events, sweeping the discus behind Tristin Gorden and Wyatt Mernka. Grace Schumacher won the high jump, Josh Knapp and long jump and Jace Pedersen the shot put.
Mya Ridgely was a double-winner for the Titans, claiming the 100 and 200. The SCC girls also won the distance medley relay.
The host Raiders won seven events, as Libbie Veit (100 hurdles), Wendie Veit (400 hurdles), Xander Hemer (400 hurdles), Riley Aragon (1,600) and Landon Sporrer (3,200) were winners. The East Sac County girls finished first in the sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relays.
Sporrer added a second in the 800, as did Owen Engel (3,200), Jordin Carroll (long jump) and Miranda Gerdes (shot put).
