TUCSON, Ariz. — Jalen Adams has not skipped a beat making the move from the Big Ten Conference to the Big 12 this spring on the softball diamond.

The former Fort Dodge Senior High all-stater was named her new league’s second team, it was announced on Wednesday.

Adams spent her first three seasons competing for the Iowa Hawkeyes before transferring to compete her senior year with the Arizona Wildcats. With the Hawkeyes, Adams was named to the Big Ten’s second squad as a junior, in addition to previously making Big Ten all-freshman and NFCA second team all-Midwest honors.

In her first start with Arizona this year, Adams made an impact, throwing a five-innning no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Southern Utah. She recorded four strikeouts, did not walk a batter, hitting one to just miss a perfect game.

On the season, Adams is 20-8 in 36 appearances with 24 starts. She has nine complete games, five shutouts and one save, recording 56 strikeouts in just under 141 innings pitched while putting together a 3.38 earned run average.

Adams leads Arizona in wins and ranks fourth in the Big 12 overall, earning 10 victories in conference play with six complete games and two shutouts.

Adams recorded her season-high for strikeouts in the regular-season finale series at Utah, leading the Wildcats to a victory. She also threw a two-hitter in a win over Creighton and pitched five scoreless in a victory over Minnesota where she allowed just three hits.

Adams is now fifth in the country for overall wins (45) since the start of 2025, ranking behind only Kasey Richard of Boston University (56), NiJaree Canady of Texas Tech (55), Lyndsey Grein of Oregon (53) and Teagan Kavan of Texas (48).

In all, Arizona placed nine on the all-Big 12 squads, led by conference player of the year Sydney Stewart and co-defensive player of the year Regan Shockey.

The Wildcats (35-15 overall) will play rival Arizona State (38-16) in the opening round of the Big 12 Softball Tournament on Thursday from OGE Energy Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Okla. beginning at 6:30 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+.

Arizona is the No. 3 seed for the tournament and ranked 20th in the latest USA Softball/ESPN poll and the NFCA poll.

Starting at $4.94/week.
