The No. 16 Iowa Central baseball team remained unbeaten in the month of April here Wednesday, sweeping Northeast at Rogers Park.

Scores were 14-4 in five innings and 22-7 in seven.

The Tritons (31-4 overall, 10-3 in the ICCAC) have won six straight since the calendar flipped from March, scoring 103 runs during the current streak. That includes three consecutive games with at least 14 runs coming across the plate.

“We’ve found a few things that are working right now,” ICCC head coach Eric Stein said. “We have some guys who are just swinging it really well, which always helps fuel your offense.”

In the opener, Tate Perrin, reigning conference player of the week Sawyer Stein and George McIntyre all recorded home runs. McIntyre finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs.

Perrin went 2-for-2, driving in three and scoring three times with a walk, as Stein drove in four and scored twice. Parker Studtmann and Sam Sejnoha each had a pair of RBI, with Will Specht recording two hits and a run scored.

Maddux Gast pitched all five innings, striking out five around two walks allowed.

“We did a nice job of staying patient at the plate,” Stein said. “We worked the count and didn’t leave a lot of runners on base.”

Iowa Central recorded seven walks to just four strikeouts, stranding only three runners in the game.

Ben Jones, Sejnoha, Jack Ratcliffe and Studtmann all had homers in the nightcap, as the Tritons scored in all six innings they came to the plate. That included back-to-back five-spots in the first and second.

Sejnoha drove in five runs on two hits, scoring three times. McIntyre had five runs scored, three hits and two RBI.

Studtmann drove in four and both Ratcliffe. Wyatt Myers each had three RBI, three runs and two hits.

All nine batters for Iowa Central scored at least one run, five had at least two hits, and eight drove in at least one run.

“Getting production from all nine spots in the lineup is important,” Stein said. “It makes you difficult to pitch against because you can’t work around anybody.”

McIntyre, a sophomore, is the NJCAA Div. II leader in batting average and moved into a tie for the home run lead with two others after blasting his 19th of the season. Stein sits in the Top-5 in RBI while the Tritons lead the country in team homers, walks and extra-base hits.

Iowa Central remains at home for a three-game series starting this Saturday with No. 11 (Div. I) Iowa Western. The two will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday with a single-game set for Sunday at noon.

Starting at $4.94/week.
