HUMBOLDT — In only two varsity soccer matches, Humboldt freshman Kaleigh Vinsand has already made her presence felt.
In her first year as a Wildcat, Vinsand has already scored six goals, but the most impressive was her game against Hampton-Dumont in a record tying performance.
“Kaleigh is an awesome kid who works hard,” said Humboldt head coach Rodd Mooney. “She has put a lot of time into developing her skills as a young kid and it is awesome to see it pay off for her early on in her career.”
Coming off a win over Webster City, the Wildcats (2-0 overall) knocked off the Bulldogs, 5-0. Vinsand had all five of the goals for Humboldt.
“She did a great job (her second game of her career) of dominating the game from midfield and then dribbling around kids to get open shots both for herself and others,” Mooney said. “We are looking forward to watching and helping her develop as a player over the next four years.”
The freshman had six shots on goal and one of her scores was on a penalty kick.
In the 3-1 win over the Lynx, Vinsand had one goal and one assist.
The glut tied the school record for most goals in a contest for the Wildcats. Ava McIntire had the feat in 2024 and Jayden Smith had five goals in 2018.
