No. 16 Tritons plate 67 runs in three-game sweep
MARSHALLTOWN — The No. 16 Iowa Central baseball team secured a three-game sweep of Marshalltown here Monday by scoring 67 total runs.
After besting the Tigers this past Saturday, 29-14, the Tritons claimed a doubleheader by scores of 8-1 and 30-7.
In the series opener, Sawyer Stein was 6-for-7 with 10 RBI and four runs scored, belting a pair of home runs with two doubles. Will Specht drove in four, as George McIntyre, Parker Studtmann and Brayden Mayer each hit a home run.
Wyatt Myers was 3-for-4 with three RBI, recording a double and a triple, in the first game on Monday. Studtmann also had three hits in support of Isaiah Brennan, who improved to 5-0 with six innings of four-hit baseball, picking up nine strikeouts.
The finale saw McIntyre, Studtmann and Drew Fitzpatrick all hit home runs, as McIntyre drove in six, Studtmann four and Stein three with two hits.
Fitzpatrick also plated three runs on two hits.
Iowa Central is scheduled to host Northeast on Wednesday for a twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. at Rogers Park.
