Gael golfers place 2nd

HAMPTON — The St. Edmond boys golf team placed second here Tuesday during a North Central Conference triangular with Algona and Hampton-Dumont/CAL.

Algona finished first with a 165, as the Gaels turned in a 186. Hampton-Dumont/CAL was third with a 211.

Nathan Manske was medalist, firing a round of 39, as Ty Mericle tied for third with a 42 to pace St. Edmond.

Right behind Mericle with a 44 was Jack McElroy, as Maxxus Laufersweiler carded a 50 and Griffin Laufersweiler had a 52. Carson Bargfrede shot a 56 and Jackson Calvert a 57 for the Gaels.

For the St. Edmond junior varsity, Hunter Horn and Kinnick Henning both had 50s, Cal Reisner shot a 52 and Owen Rutherford and Thomas Knobbe had 70s.

The Gaels host Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden on Friday.
