Cain named All-American

Sophomore on first squad; Sempere on third team

The 2025-26 Iowa Central men’s basketball team left quite a mark on the history books for the storied program.

That continued with the release of the NJCAA Div. II All-American teams, as Jordan Cain and Aleix Sempere were both honored. They are the first Tritons to be selected to the elite squads since Tray Croft in 2018.

“Really proud of both Jordan and Aleix,” ICCC head coach Mason Denholm said. “They’ve been great to be around and coach since they got to campus as freshman. Both impact winning at a high level and will continue to do so at their four-year schools.

“On top of being great players, both are unbelievably great people and I am going to really miss having the, along with our other three sophomores, around next year.”

Cain was selected by the committee to the first team while Sempere made the third. One other ICCAC player was named, as Kaden Tate of Des Moines Area earned a spot on the second-team.

The reigning Region 11 player of the year and a selection to the all-tournament team at nationals, Cain posted 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals per game, shooting 48 percent from the field. He leaves the program as the career and single-season leader in steals.

Cain, a two-time all-region pick, was also voted to the Region 11 all-defensive squad. He helped Iowa Central reach the semifinals of the national tournament for the first time in program history this past season, placing fourth overall.

Sempere, a sophomore like Cain, averaged a double-double at 15 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 63 percent from the floor. He was the only ICCAC player to average a double-double.

Cain and Sempere were part of a group that won 48 games overall the past two seasons, including 25 in the conference. The ICCAC sent three teams to nationals this year, as Kirkwood won the championship in 2025.

Starting at $4.94/week.
