Another meet title for SE Valley boys

GOWRIE — The Southeast Valley boys have made a habit of finishing at the top of the team standings in meets so far this season.
On Monday night, they did it again — this time on their home track.
The Jaguars accumulated 227 points, crushing the rest of the field here on Monday. Ogden (98) was second, followed by South Central Calhoun (95).
The Jaguars saw 12 first-place efforts and eight runner-up showings.
Alex Burger was a double winner in the long jump (21-04.5) and the 110-meter hurdles (15.41). Deegan Brandel prevailed in the discus (139-04).
Kayden Showers was the 100-meter champion (11.70). Other individual winners were Trennis Stevens (1:02.06 in the 400 hurdles) and Lincoln Akins (4:53.59 in the 1600).
Southeast Valley won six relay events. The Jaguars took the sprint medley (1:35.43), 4×800 (9:16.09), shuttle hurdle relay (1:08.56), distance medley relay (3:54.28), 4×100 (44.39) and the 4×400 (3:39.85). They were second in the 4×200 (1:38.71).
Individual runner-up efforts came from Ian Brunner (43-01.5 in shot put), Colden Mapel (5-06 in high jump), Kason Loeffler (11:38.39 in 3200), Owen Nuss (2:09.65 in 800), Colin Johnson (23.42 in 200) and Josiah Hefley (1:02.25 in 400 hurdles).
South Central Calhoun had two first-place finishes and two silver medalists. Jace Pedersen won the shot put (45-08) and finished second in the discus (134-04). The 4×200 relay team was a winner in 1:38.40, and the 4×100 quartet was second.
Newell-Fonda’s Cody Wolf won the high jump with a leap of 5-08. The N-F distance medley (4:12.34) was second, as was the 4×400 (3:50.81).
