Osorio, shuttle hurdle relay victorious for Dodger girls
MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls secured eight Top-6 finishes here on Friday at the Iowa Alliance Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, led by a pair of gold medal performances.
The Dodgers were third overall in the team race.
Freshman Ava Osorio made her arrival in a big way for the Dodgers, capturing the long jump title while also running on the first-place shuttle hurdle relay squad.
Osorio went 15 feet for her individual crown, and paired up with Charlotte DeJong, Addison Friesth and Maeleena Meyer to capture the shuttle hurdle relay race in 42 seconds.
Ky’Mariana Mosley was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 33-4, and Meyer took third in the shuttle hurdle relay. Friesth was sixth in the same event.
Mariana Taute, LJ Maehl, Reina Lacina and Aaliyah Geopfert finished fourth in the distance medley relay. Ava Wessels, Maddie Hoshaw, Osorio and Teryn Rippentrop crossed in fourth for the 4×400.
Wessels added a fifth-place effort in the 60-meter dash.
Fort Dodge heads to Algona on March 30 for its final indoor meet, taking part in the Tom and Karilyn Claude Invitational.
