The Iowa Central baseball team’s offensive onslaught continued in a weekend series with Dakota County, and as a result, so did the winning.

The 16th-ranked Tritons plated 44 runs in sweeping DCTC at Rogers Park, prevailing on Friday in a 17-16 slugfest and then rolling on Saturday, 11-0 and 16-9. Head coach Eric Stein’s squad has now taken 15 straight and is 19-1 overall.

Iowa Central plated seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out Friday’s victory. The Tritons were up 10-3 early, but fell behind when Dakota County plated five runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth.

Bryson Carpenter, Tate Perrin and Sam Sejnoha all drove in three runs. Carpenter homered twice, while Perrin, Sawyer Stein and George McIntyre also went deep. There were 11 home runs in the contest.

Carpenter, McIntyre, Perrin, Stein and Jaxon Book had two hits apiece. McIntyre, Carpenter, Perrin and Stein — the top four players in the batting order — scored three times each.

Parker Studtmann had a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to knock in what proved to be the winning runs. Dakota County had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the ninth, but a bench player touched the ball for an interference call to end it after a wild pitch.

A 10-run third inning fueled the opener on Saturday. Stein hit a grand slam to highlight the frame.

Maddox Sullivan did the rest, firing a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.

Wyatt Myers was 2-for-3. McIntyre, Carpenter and Perrin scored twice.

In the nightcap, Myers, Burke and McIntyre all had two hits, two runs and two RBI. Stein scored four times and walked three.

Jacob Coshenet drove in three.

Iowa Central is scheduled to return to action on Thursday at home against Ankoka-Ramsey. The twinbill starts at 1 p.m. at Rogers Park.
