Hawkeyes go 3-1 at LSU Invitational
BATON RUGE, La. — The Iowa softball team went 3-1 at the LSU Invitational this weekend.
The Hawkeyes (13-6 overall) won the first three games against four opponents. They beat Nichols State, 5-3.
Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Tory Bennett was 2-for-4 with a double and her fifth home run of the season. Bennett, who had one career home run at the collegiate level before this season, drove in a pair.
Iowa then beat Memphis, 11-2. Former St. Edmond all-stater and Hawkeye true freshman Mariah Myers drove in two runs, while Bennett had a double.
In an 8-5 win against Nicholls State, Myers scored a run.
The Hawkeyes finished the invitational with a 5-3 loss to LSU. Bennett had a hit in the contest.
