Adams earns career victory No. 50

TUSCON, Az. — Arizona won five games in the Hillenbrand Invitational last weekend.

The Wildcats (17-5 overall), who have now won five games in a row, blanked Eastern Illinois, 8-0 to open the tournament.

On Friday, Arizona handled Long Beach State (8-0) and Minnesota (11-2).

In the win over the Golden Gophers, former Fort Dodge Senior High all-stater Jalen Adams picked up her 50th career victory and cleared the 600-inning mark for her collegiate career. Adams carries a career ERA of 2.3 from her time at Iowa and Arizona.

Adams struck out three Gophers and walked only one, allowing three hits in five innings of work and giving up zero earned runs.

On Saturday, the Wildcats beat Howard (5-0), then ended the tournament with a 12-2 win over Long Beach State on Sunday.

Adams went four of the five innings, giving up two hits and zero earned runs for her ninth win of the season.

The ex-Dodger standout, who is 9-3, worked the fifth inning, giving up no hits and striking out one.

Adams currently ranks third in the nation with her nine victories, behind only Florida’s Keagan Rothrock and Oklahoma’s Audrey Lowry.
