Tritons sweep in home softball debut

The 24th-ranked Iowa Central softball team took advantage of ideal conditions to play a doubleheader with Marshalltown here at Rogers Park on Sunday.
After winning the opener, 11-1 in five innings, the Tritons completed the sweep with an 8-7 victory.
In the nightcap, former St. Edmond all-stater Lauren Gibb hit her first collegiate home run, finishing the game 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Jersey Hawf also went deep, driving in three, as Natalie Rasmussen scored three runs and stole three bases.
Josie Juhl picked up the win in relief.
Kyra Kain hit a homer in the opener, as Hawf and Rasmussen both drove in two runs. Former Eagle Grove prep Addyson Jeske scored a run and stole a base, with Jillian French earning the win after striking out nine in four innings.
Iowa Central heads to Overland Park, Kan. to face Johnson County for three games this weekend.
