No. 2 Tritons dominate NIACC
MASON CITY — The second-ranked Iowa Central wrestling team put an exclamation point on the regular season here Wednesday.
The Tritons (14-1 overall) crushed NIACC 42-3 in their final dual of the year.
“Our guys have done a nice job so far,” said ICCC head coach Luke Moffitt. “They have to continue to take care of themselves, and hopefully now, we springboard into the postseason.
“We have to focus on all 10 guys getting healthy and ready to compete at another level now.”
Iowa Central won nine of the 10 matches against the Trojans, coming away with four falls.
Webster City graduate Landon Griffin ended the dual with a pin at heavyweight.
Matthew Ireland (125), Matt Roche (149) and Jarrel Miller (184) all earned falls as well.
Shane Schwab (133) picked up a 4-1 decision for Iowa Central, while Davis Browman (141) won 10-7.
Jake Marshall (165) also prevailed by a 10-7 count. Chancery Dene (157) took a 4-2 decision. CJ Mikely won by forfeit.
The Tritons are back in action on Feb. 15 when they compete at a regional tournament back in Mason City.
