MASON CITY — The third-ranked Iowa Central women’s wrestling team maintained control of the ICCAC Region XI Championship with a second consecutive title run here on Saturday.

The Tritons racked up 198 points, winning gold with six individual champions and 14 wrestlers inside of the Top-3 at their respective weights. No. 4 Iowa Western was second followed by sixth-ranked Hawkeye, NIACC, Southeastern, No. 1 Indian Hills and 10th-ranked Iowa Lakes.

Erica Pastoriza, Damiyah Smith, Jeream Estabilio, Annabelle Petsinger, Destiny Krum and Valerie Hamilton were all crowned champions, as Molly Sek, Asia Jahangir, Ashlee Farrier, Delise Filla and Alexandra Grow finished second.

Amaya Fairley Vasquez, former Manson Northwest Webster wrestler Lucy Kohnen and Harmoni Collins each placed third for Iowa Central.

“Really proud of our team,” ICCC head coach Zak Hensley said. “All 25 athletes that toe the line made this conference title possible. Erica had an elite performance at 103 pounds, as did Damiyah and Molly at 110.

“Having co-champs at multiple weights was really exciting. Destiny knocked off a ranked opponent and had a standout performance. Overall, I am so excited for the national tournament. This team has faith in each other, the work ethic and really have what it takes to do something special.”

The NJCAA national tournament takes place March 6-7 in Council Bluffs.

Starting at $4.94/week.
