Iowa Central women fall at No. 7 Kirkwood
CEDAR RAPIDS — The Iowa Central women saw a two-game win streak come to an end here on Wednesday night vs. No. 7 Kirkwood, 81-45.
The Eagles (22-3 overall, 16-2 in the ICCAC) used an early 22-10 run to gain control of the contest, leading by as many as 37.
For the Tritons (19-7, 12-6), Shakani Murray scored 17 points and Izzy Bassett added eight with 12 rebounds. Trista Ohlmeier also had eight points and both Ashlin Jacobsen and Amelia Echternkamp each scored six.
Kirkwood was led by Erianna Moeschter’s 22 points. Whitney Sullivan added 11.
The win was the 1,100th in the coaching career of Kim Mohl.
Iowa Central took an early lead on the Eagles, but the Tritons were unable to overcome a 50-28 deficit in rebounds and a 42-10 different in points in the paint.
Iowa Central hosts Marshalltown on Saturday at 1 p.m.
