Iowa Central men earn road victory

MASON CITY — The No. 11 Iowa Central men scored an 81-74 victory over North Iowa Area here Wednesday night.

Aleix Sempere scored 21 points and CJ Mitchell added 16 for the Tritons (23-6 overall, 15-5 in ICCAC), who also received key contributions from Tashun Pender, Jalen Wynter and Manny Lueth, as each scored nine.

For the Trojans (16-14, 8-12), Jacob Martin had 22 points and Lance Helming added 16.

Iowa Central held a nine-point lead at the half and was able to overcome six made 3-pointers in the second half by NIACC to prevail.

Pender grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, as Sempere had nine boards. Pender, Mitchell and Sempere each had three steals.

The Tritons secured the No. 2 seed and host in the Region 11-B Tournament as the conference runner-up. They will face the Trojans on Saturday in Fort Dodge from Hodges Fieldhouse at 3:30 p.m.
