Behind a 14-2 run in the third quarter, the St. Edmond girls secured the 15th win of the season here Tuesday night over Webster City, 49-34.

With that, the Gaels (15-5 overall, 10-4 in North Central Conference) head into the postseason with plenty of momentum.

Eden Horn scored 17 points with 16 rebounds, eight blocked shots and two steals, as Chloe Palmer added 13 points with five rebounds and a block. Sophia Schlienz chipped in 10 and Abby Huss eight.

St. Edmond reached the 15-win mark for the first time since the 2014-15 season, which was also the last time they won at least 10 games in the conference.

“We didn’t have a lot of energy and came out a little flat,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “But we did a good job of handling the pressure and executing over the second and third quarters.

“We made some mistakes, but that’s part of the game.”

For the Lynx (7-13, 4-11), Evie Davis had 11 points and nine rebounds while Alivia Burns added eight. Tristyn Wright grabbed seven rebounds and Lovie Pruismann had six.

The two teams battled to a 7-7 draw after the opening eight minutes, but matching 3-pointers by Palmer and Schlienz in the second helped St. Edmond gain some confidence.

In the third, Palmer scored six, Horn had five and Schlienz buried another triple, as the Gaels outscored Webster City, 16-7. They continued to push ahead in the fourth, using a 25-5 run over the course of the second half.

“We have really had a great season and all of the credit for that goes to these girls for how hard they have worked,” Tracy said. “Now, we get ready for the postseason.”

St. Edmond will host Collins-Maxwell back here on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The winner advances to face either Baxter or Colo-Nesco on Tuesday, Feb. 17 inside the Gael gym.

Webster City closes out its regular season Thursday at Perry.
