Dodgers have no answer for DMR

DES MOINES — After a strong start, the Fort Dodge boys basketball squad had no answers for eighth-ranked (Class 4A) Des Moines Roosevelt here on Tuesday.

The Dodgers held a one-point lead through the first period, but the Iowa Alliance Conference South Division champion Roughriders controlled the contest from there in a 71-33 victory.

A 21-6 fourth quarter was the final knockout blow for Roosevelt, who improved to 16-4 overall on its Senior Night.

Sophomore post player Brody Maehl paced FDSH for the second straight contest, scoring 10 points. Junior Teddy Johnson added eight from the low block.

Junior standout Charlie King had 25 points for the Roughriders. Frank Lee IV contributed 16.

Fort Dodge, now 3-17, takes on Perry at home on Tuesday in its regular-season finale at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
