Dodger boys tip off substate action at Centennial
ANKENY — The Fort Dodge boys will open postseason play on Monday night.
The Dodgers (4-17) will travel to Ankeny Centennial (8-13) for a 7 p.m. tip of a Class 4A, Substate 2 first-round contest.
Fort Dodge is coming off a 76-58 victory over Perry, where four Dodgers reached double figures in scoring.
Senior Hayden Zuspann paced the Dodgers with 20 points, connecting on six three-pointers. Sophomore Reggie Pederson added 15 and senior Tytrell Mosley chipped in with 11.
Junior Teddy Johnson came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Dodgers were 28-for-53 from the field and 11 of 13 at the line. The 76 points was the highest output of the season.
Centennial is coming off a 70-35 victory over Des Moines Lincoln.
Pederson is FDSH’s leading scorer, averaging 9.5 points. Fellow sophomore Brody Maehl is adding eight per contest, while Zuspann is at 7.3.
Centennial’s top offensive performers during the regular season were Hunter Runchey (11.1), Luke Mitchell (10.6) and Keaton Kasperbauer (10.2).
Centennial leads the series 11-1 in games dating back to 2014.
