Tritons get back on track

IOWA FALLS — After opening 2026 with a loss to Iowa Western this past weekend, the Iowa Central women rebounded here Wednesday night vs. Ellsworth.

Shakani Murray led three players in double figures with 18 points as the Tritons posted a 64-57 victory over the Panthers.

Murray also collected six rebounds with five steals and four assists, as Izzy Bassett scored 15 and Trista Ohlmeier addeed 14 with nine rebounds.

For Ellsworth, Yaiza Soriano Balaguer had 19 off the bench and Asia Beale scored 15.

“Good bounce back win for us,” ICCC head coach Graham McFall said. “We had really good production from our starters. We executed in the fourth when we needed to the most.

“Really proud of our resilience throughout in a tough road win.”

An 18-11 run in the second quarter helped Iowa Central (12-4 overall, 5-3 in ICCAC) erase an early deficit, as Bassett sank two triples and scored nine. From there, the Tritons outscored the Panthers 20-13 in the third, as Murray scored 10 of her team-high 18.

Ashlin Jacobsen contributed nine points and Amelia Echternkamp eight as the Tritons received all 64 points from their five starters.

Ellsworth (7-7, 3-5) dominated the paint, holding a plus-22 advantage, and were plus-11 on second-chance points. The Tritons made seven more free throws and four more triples than the Panthers.

Iowa Central remains on the road, heading to Marshalltown this Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip. Next home action for the Tritons will be next Wednesday vs. NIACC.
