Jenkins wins title for Iowa Central wrestlers
WORTHINGTON, Minn. — The Iowa Central wrestling team competed at the Worthington Open here on Saturday.
Che Jenkins (141) was the lone champion for the Tritons, claiming five victories on the day. Jenkins had two falls, an injury default and a decision.
He picked up 15-3 major decision over Cole Bozile of St. Cloud State in the finals.
Matthew Roche (149) was a runner-up for Iowa Central. Roche won the crown with two falls and two decisions. Roche dropped a tight 1-0 decision to Hudson Loges of Augustana.
Matthew Ireland was third at 125. Ireland had a tech fall and major decision before losing in the semis. He placed third by injury default.
Muhammad Bilal (125), Tegan Shrek (133), and Temuulen Mendbileg (174) all placed fourth for the Tritons. Jacob Marshall (165), and Jarrel Miller (184) were sixth.
Jamie Taylor (125), Kolton Keller (125), Gary Walker (149) and Chancey Deane (157) placed eighth.
