Jags crown three TLC champions

GRAETTINGER — The Southeast Valley wrestling squad came away with three individual titles at the Twin Lakes Conference Meet here on Saturday.

Wyatt Blair (120), Keelan Wellman (126) and Colton Haugh (150) were all crowned champions.

GTRA grabbed the team crown with 201 points. Alta-Aurelia (183) was the runner-up, followed by Emmetsburg (149), South Central Calhoun (144), Manson Northwest Webster (134) and the Jaguars (105.5).

Blair (29-4) claimed three technical falls on his way to a 20-6 victory over Laeton Langschwager of Alta-Aurelia in the gold-medal match. Wellman (28-7) had a 38-second fall in the semifinals before scoring a 10-9 decision victory over CJ Rodriguez of Emmetsburg.

Haugh (19-10) recorded a first-period fall in the quarters and a fall in 4:20 of the semis. Haugh then pinned Caleb Manwarren of GTRA in 3:20.

Josiah Hefley (113) and Colin Johnson (144) were fourth for SV, and Brock Norine (175) placed sixth.

South Central Calhoun

Second-ranked (IAwrestle) Karson Wuebker (106) and fifth-rated Jace Pedersen (285) both claimed titles for the Titans.

Wuebker (32-0) stayed unbeaten with a fall in 37 seconds and a 15-0 tech fall to reach the finals. Wuebker pinned Hunter Lester of West Bend-Mallard in 1:51 for gold.

Pedersen (26-5) had two early pins to reach the finals in 45 and 47 seconds, respectively. Pedersen then won a tight 6-3 decision over No. 8 Nick Saxton (27-4) of Emmetsburg.

Brayden Werneburg (132) was a silver medalist. Kase Kraft (third at 113), Curtis Bullock (fifth at 120), Tucker Freimuth (fifth at 138), Coltley Timmerman (fifth at 150), Hayden McFarland (fifth at 157), Cooper Nattress (fourth at 175), Brandan Best (sixth at 190) and Maximus Hardy (fifth at 215) all placed as well for SCC.

Pocahontas Area

Jakob Lawson (113) and William Lawson (175) captured first-place medals for the Indians.

Jakob Lawson (22-3) had two pins and beat Eli Rieb of Alta-Aurelia by a 6-3 count in the title round. William Lawson (24-1) had a fall and a decision before a 9-6 triumph over Bradyen Yates of Emmetsburg in the finals.

Adam Marsh (13-3) was second at 215 pounds, with a pin and a decision before losing to Cael Currans of GTRA in the championship round.

Paxton Cundiff grabbed fourth at 126 for PAC.

Manson Northwest Webster

Hunter Newman (165) earned the only title for the Cougars. Newman (25-4) had a fall and major decision before winning the crown by injury default over Caleb Swedin of GTRA.

Gavin Burton (138), Tristan Thompson (157) and Mason Anderson (190) were runner-ups. Burton (13-11) won his semifinal match, 12-5. Anderson had a fall in 1:37 of the quarterfinals and a pin in 4:30 of the semis before bowing out.

Thompson (19-12) picked up a 15-5 major decision in the semis.

Keaton Wittrock (third at 106), Kale Kraft (sixth at 120), Taylen Secroy (fifth at 132), Eli Schoon (fifth at 144) and Jaggar Wolfe (sixth at 215) placed for the Cougars.

Emmetsburg

Ryan Wirtz (25-2) was the 190-pound champion for the E-Hawks. Wirtz had a fall in 1:11 and claimed gold with a win over Anderson.

CJ Rodriguez (126), Gage Ditch (144), Bradyen Yates (175), and Nick Saxton (285) were all silver medalists for Emmetsburg. Teammates Matt Rubel (fifth at 113), Ben Garretts (sixth at 150), Beckham Shirk (fourth at 157), Wyatt Armstrong-Ricke (sixth at 165) and Braylen King (fourth at 215) all placed.

West Bend-Mallard

Hunter Lester (17-1) suffered his first loss of the season, losing by fall to No. 2 Karson Wuebker (32-0) of South Central Calhoun.

Lester had a 28-second fall in the quarters and a pin in 55 seconds in the semis.

Mason Knapp (third at 126), Levi Zaugg (fourth at 138), and Kadin Knapp (sixth at 144) were also placewinners for the Wolverines.

East Sac County

Dawson Allen (165) was fourth for the Raiders. Finishing fifth was Emmett Lahr (126).

In sixth was Owen Engel (132) and Cal McCollough (285).
