Iowa Central women prevail on the road
MARSHALLTOWN — Izzy Bassett scored 19 points and the Iowa Central women secured a road win here Saturday over Marshalltown, 57-43.
Bassett has now scored in double figures in each of her last three games for the Tritons (13-4 overall, 6-3 in the ICCAC).
MacKenna Bush had nine points, Amelia Echternkamp added eight with six rebounds, and Trista Ohlmeier had seven rebounds.
For the Tigers, Shenell Stewart scored 18 with 12 rebounds and Olivia Heartwell had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
“We got a great lift from our bench offensively and did a much better job in the second half finding quality looks against their zone,” ICCC head coach Graham McFall said. “Defensively, we were locked into personnel and forced them into taking a lot of low-percentage shots.”
Iowa Central had 21 points off the bench, as Bush sank three 3-pointers. Bassett made five triples on the night.
The Tritons led 9-4 after the first and continued to add to the lead, outscoring Marshalltown in each of the next three quarters.
Up next for Iowa Central will be the first of two straight at home when they host North Iowa Area on Wednesday night inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
