Dodgers can’t stop DM East

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys stayed with Des Moines East for three quarters here Tuesday night.

In the fourth, though, the Scarlets used a 14-2 run to take control, completing the season sweep over the Dodgers, 41-25.

Down by four entering the final eight minutes, Fort Dodge (1-11 overall) was unable to get any rhythm going on offense.

Reggie Pederson had a game-high 10 points, as Hayden Zuspann added five. Brody Maehl had four, Dterrius Johnson added three and both Tytrell Mosley and Kauner Jensen each scored two.

“We talk about limiting our turnovers all the time,” FDSH head coach Willie Williams said. “We played hard with great effort and great defense for three-plus quarters, but we have to play all four quarters. That last five minutes really got to us.”

Des Moines East (7-3) won the first meeting, 64-47, snapping a four-game win streak in the series by the Dodgers entering the matchup. Samson Amenu had six, as both Davion Curry and Cedrique Irishura each added five.

After the opening quarter, the Scarlets led 8-7, building a 17-13 lead at the break.

Fort Dodge is back on the road Friday at Des Moines Hoover.

Starting at $4.94/week.
