Another three-game week for St. Edmond in hoops
The St. Edmond basketball teams play at home for the first time in 2026 this week, hosting both Eagle Grove and Manson Northwest Webster before a road trip to Webster City.
All three doubleheaders begin at 6 p.m. with the girls game.
The top-ranked (Class 1A) Gael boys (7-1 overall, 5-1 in North Central Conference) suffered their first loss of the season last Friday night at No. 2 (3A) Clear Lake, 62-48. A tough fourth quarter kept St. Edmond from hanging with the Lions.
Hunter Horn scored 21 points, adding to his career total of 1,311. Horn stands third on the school’s scoring chart behind Andrew Gibb and Nick Clark.
Eagle Grove (4-7) earned a 67-53 victory over North Iowa last Friday, as they have won three of four since a four-game losing skid in December. Adrian Whipple leads the Eagles in scoring followed by Braylon Kling and Gavin Pedersen.
Manson Northwest Webster (3-6) downed GTRA for its second straight since since January started, 68-61. Coy Moline averages just over 17 points per game, as Isaiah Daggett joins him in double figures.
Webster City (2-5, 1-4) dropped its third straight, 43-38 to Clarion-Goldfield/Dows last week. Coyce Bertran, Alex Staley and Jaxon Griffith are all double-digit scorers for the Lynx.
The Gael girls (5-3, 4-2) went 2-1 last week, scoring wins over Humboldt and South Hamilton before falling to No. 14 (3A) Clear Lake, 52-38. Chloe Palmer scored 12 and Abby Huss nine vs. the Lions.
Palmer had a 32-point performance in the win at Humboldt, going 7-for-8 from the 3-point line. Freshman Eden Horn grabbed a single-game school-record 24 rebounds in the victory.
Eagle Grove (2-8) is led by Taytum Edwards, as the sophomore averages 10 points per game.
Manson Northwest Webster (1-8) has lost three in a row, including a 21-point setback to ranked GTRA last Friday night. Addison McCullough, Bella Aquino and Addison Kraft lead the Cougars.
Webster City (4-5, 2-4) earned its second win in three games, besting Clarion-Goldfield/Dows. Evie Davis is averaging a double-double at nearly 15 points and 13 rebounds per game.
