Seagren earns runner up spot
CARROLL — The Fort Dodge boys swim team jumped into the pool for the first time this season, competing against Spencer, Carroll and Bishop Garrigan here Tuesday night.
Spencer scored the overall win with 337 points followed by Carroll, the Dodgers and the Golden Bears.
Aiden Seagren had the top finish for Fort Dodge, placing second in the 200 individual medley. Seagren clocked a time of 2:23.20, as Carroll’s Leegan Sease was first in 1:58.47.
Seagren closed with a strong 34.71 leg on the race.
The Dodger 200 freestyle relay with Seagren on the anchor placed third, going 1:49.14. David Nelson, Trevor Roberts and Brek Pingel were the first three swimmers.
Nelson was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.04 and Roberts fifth in the 50 freestyle in 26.84.
“This was a great first night of swimming for the guys,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “We saw the boys beat times from last year and set themselves up to have a great season. I believe everyone improved from even a week ago during our scrimmage.”
Bishop Garrigan’s top finish came from Matt Besch in the 100 butterfly, as he was third overall.
Fort Dodge now prepares to take on Mason City Thursday in the pool for the home opener.
