COUNCIL BLUFFS — The third-ranked Iowa Central women’s wrestling team picked up a thrilling 28-24 dual meet victory over No. 4 Iowa Western here Wednesday night.

The ICCAC dual featured a handful of ranked matchups, as the Tritons remained unbeaten behind the strength of three falls and three technical falls.

Earning pins were Destiny Krum, Valerie Hamilton and Praizh Suggs, as Erica Pastoriza, Damiyah Smith and Ashlee Farrier won by technical fall.

Coming off a conference win last Friday over Hawkeye and action at the Buena Vista Open this past Saturday, Iowa Central was missing a couple of lineup regulars. But Pastoriza, the No. 1 ranked 103-pounder, started things off with a bang, earning a technical fall in just 71 seconds.

Smith, ranked fourth at 110 pounds, bested No. 9 Baillee Cash with her own technical fall inside of the first period, as Farrier added a third bonus-point win with a technical fall at 131 pounds.

Krum scored the first fall of the night for the Tritons when she pinned HayLee Staker at 138 in 2:14. Hamilton and Suggs followed with back-to-back pins at 160 and 180 pounds.

Hamilton stuck Ayana Fletcher in 2:09, while Suggs pinned Carson Shank in just 49 seconds for the first win of the dual.

“We have had the injury bug going around, putting some of our athletes out of competition, but we have the whole team ready to go and prepared for the opportunity,” ICCC head coach Zak Hensley said. “I’m really proud of our team. We had to dig deep and find a way.

“They overcame a lot and got it done, not just for themselves but for all of us. It took all 30 athletes on the roster to get the job done. I’m very proud of their dedication, fight and will to win.”

Iowa Western was able to secure wins by Audre Herron and Faith Tarrant to close out the match, but it was not enough to overcome Iowa Central.

This was the final action of 2025 for the Tritons, as they are now off until Thursday, Jan. 15, when they host Southeastern in ICCAC action.
